IELTS Speaking Practice Test 3

Lesson Structure

  • The IELTS Speaking test usually takes between 11-14 minutes.
  • In this lesson, your tutor will act as an IELTS examiner and will ask you questions based on the IELTS Speaking test.
  • At the end, your tutor will give you some feedback.

Exercise 1

Part 1

Answer these questions based on Part 1 of the IELTS Speaking test. This part of the test usually takes 4-5 minutes.


Let's talk about music

1. What types of music do you like/dislike?

2. How do certain kinds of music make you feel?

3. What’s your favorite song/album/artist?


Let's talk about vacations.

4.When was the last time you went on vacation?

5.What did you enjoy about it?

6.Would you rather have one long vacation each year or a few shorter ones? Why?


Let's talk about tea and coffee.

7.Do you prefer tea or coffee?

8.Can you remember the first time you tried tea or coffee?

9.Do most of your friends and family prefer tea or coffee?

Exercise 2

Part 2

Complete this task based on Part 2 of the IELTS Speaking test. You have 1 minute to prepare your response and up to 2 minutes to speak. Your tutor will stop you when the time is up.


Describe a book you read recently.

You should say:

  • what the book was about
  • why you read it
  • how long it took you to read

And explain why you did or didn't enjoy reading it.

Exercise 3

Part 3

Answer these questions based on Part 3 of the IELTS Speaking test. Your tutor will stop asking questions after 5 minutes.


1.In your opinion, how important is it for people to read?

2.Why do you think some people dislike reading?

3.Would you say that public libraries are important?

4.How often do you think young children should read?
