PART 1 QUESTIONS

Introduction and interview (4-5 minutes) 

Here are possible questions that might come up during the test. Go over them with your tutor.

In the first part, the examiner will ask you a number of general questions 

Topic

Food

Food is possibly the most universal topic of them all and everyone loves to discuss what they eat. This is also an ideal topic for beginners because the vocabulary is usually pretty simple. You could use questions like:

  • What is your favorite food? Why?

  • What food comes from your country?

  • How do you feel when you eat food?

  • What foods do you dislike? Why?

  • Where do you usually get food from?

 Motivation

Whether or not the students are a motivated bunch, motivation is a good topic to discuss in order to inspire your students. Some example questions are:

  • How motivated are you in general?

  • What motivates you to do things?

  • What is the best motivator to succeed?

  • What do you do when you feel demotivated?

  • What is a good way to motivate others?

Beauty

Beauty is one of those topics that’s conventionally more geared toward women than it is to men. However, anyone can appreciate beauty in all its forms, and anyone can recognize the importance of the concept of beauty in our cultures, societies and behaviors. Plus, men might surprise you by caring to chime in on beauty, looks and grooming:

  • What is “beauty”?

  • What/who do you consider beautiful?

  • What does “inner beauty” mean to you?

  • Do you consider artificial beauty (cosmetic surgery) to still be beauty? Why/why not?

  • How do you feel about the emphasis that people put on beauty these days?

  • What would you tell your children about beauty?

PART 2 QUESTIONS

Individual long turn (3-4 minutes) 

Here are possible questions that might come up during the test. Go over them with your tutor.

You will have 1 minute to prepare to speak, and then you will talk for 2 minutes, during which the examiner will not speak. 


Sample: A

Describe a challenge that you met recently.

You should say:

  • what it was

  • when you met it

  • where you met it

  • And explain how you overcome that challenge.


Sample: B 

Describe a change that can improve your local area.

You should say:

  • what it is

  • how the change would work

  • what kinds of problems the change will solve

  • and describe how it would improve your local area.


Sample: C

Describe a city you have visited that you would like to go back to.

You should say:

  • when you visited there

  • what you did there

  • how long you stayed there

  • and explain why you would like to go back.


PART 3 QUESTIONS

Two-way discussion (4-5 minutes) 

Here are possible questions that might come up during the test. Go over them with your tutor.

 In the last part, you will talk with the examiner about issues related to the topic on the card.

Topic: CHALLENGE - Two-way Questions

  1. What challenges is the world facing currently?

  2. Do you think science can help overcome the challenges?

  3. What are the challenges in a team sports event?

  4. What are some disadvantages of playing individual sports?

  5. Do you think parents should encourage their child to practice problem-solving when a child is young??

  6. Can parents improve their children's thinking skills by giving them specific family problems to solve?

  7. Do you think it is necessary to challenge yourself, pushing the boundaries and getting out of your comfort zone?

  8. More and more people are trying new adventurous sports. What are the reasons?


Topic: CHANGE - Two-way Questions

  1. Do people like to change? Why or why not?

  2. Why do you think some people do not accept changes? Why?

  3. Is change always better? Why?

  4. What is the best place to communicate with people?

  5. Do you think it is a place available to people of different ages?

  6. Why is it important to communicate for people?

  7. Does technology impact the way people communicate? In what way?


Topic: CITY - Two-way Questions

  • What are the benefits of living in the cities?

  • What are the problems that you find in the cities? ?

  • What are the main changes in modern cities in the 10-year period?

  • Will the size of cities increase in future like nowadays?

  • Do you think people will live in extreme environments in future?

  • Do you think that people in the countryside are more friendly than people in the cities? Why?
