James just got a promotion, so he invites his co-worker to go out for some drinks. | |

![]() James | Perfect! What do you say we go out for some drinks instead? I'm buying. I finally got that promotion I’ve been waiting for. |
![]() Zach | Nice! Congratulations, man! It was about time. Now, that's something to drink for. |
![]() James | It sure is! How about we go to that pub around the corner? |
![]() Zach | Sounds good! |
Several hours later, Zach and James are in the pub. They see their co-worker, Jessica, in front of the pub. | |
![]() James | Hey, Jessica! Come on in! Why don't you join us for a drink? It’s my treat. |
![]() Jessica | Are you guys celebrating something? |
![]() James | As a matter of fact, we are. I got promoted! Come on, what are you drinking? |
![]() Jessica | Wow, congratulations, James! Okay, I could have one beer, I guess. |
![]() James | Waiter, one beer, please! Put it on my tab. And another round for the two of us. |

![]() James | Yeah, you're right. I'll just go foot the bill. |
![]() Zach | No, I can't let you pay the whole bill, let's go Dutch. |
![]() James | No way, it's on me. When you get promoted, you'll pay. |

Situation
It's Friday, and after a long week, you decide it would be a good time to go out for a drink with your colleagues. Your teacher will act as one of your colleagues. Ask him/her out, and talk about who is going to pay the bill. You may use the following expressions:
